Zoe Partos

2006 Graduate

What did you read at University?

I read Sociology (BA) at Exeter University.

What were you looking for in your career?

Like a lot of people coming out of university I was unsure of exactly what I wanted to do, however I knew I was looking for a challenging career in a progressive environment that would facilitate my ambitions.

I thrive on change and therefore wanted something that would give me new opportunities on a regular basis. I also wanted a role that would provide large amounts of people interaction and a strong team environment.

Why did you choose Digby Morgan?

Initially recruitment was not a career path I had even considered however when I researched Digby Morgan in some more detail I realised this would be a fantastic opportunity to gain some strong commercial awareness and business acumen.

Further to this my experience on the assessment day was extremely positive and cemented my decision. Not only was everyone I met extremely welcoming and friendly there was also real passion about the business.

The entire company has extremely high values surrounding their employees and really appeared to encourage internal progression and reward it accordingly.

Which division do you work in?

I sit in HR Resourcing. There are 13 of us in the team and we deal with the entry level up to mid-management positions, typically between £20,000 and £50,000.

I work across a number of industry sectors from investment banking right through to publishing companies.

Please describe a typical day

The days are very varied however there are a number of regular things I will do throughout the week, this includes interviewing new candidates, meeting clients to discuss new positions and keep up relations, sourcing candidates for new positions, creating web advertisements and co-ordinating interviews for candidates with clients.

Further to this I will take feedback from candidates and clients following on from interviews and then hopefully this leads to making a job offer, arguably the most satisfying part of the job!

The days are very busy which I thrive on and because you are working on a number of roles at any one time. Your work is always changing and new things are coming in all the time so it remains fresh and challenging.

What has your role at Digby Morgan given you from a self-development perspective?

Digby Morgan has exceeded my expectations professionally; my commercial awareness has improved 100% and I have already made huge amounts of contacts in all areas of business.

I have received great structured training not only in recruitment but also in Human Resources and there is always someone who I can turn to should I need advice.

Further to this I work in a fantastic team environment. Everyone is highly supportive and have all helped me build my confidence in my first proper role.

What advice would you give to candidates thinking of applying to the Associate programme?

If like me you are unsure of the career path you want to take it is really important to establish what you want to get out of your first role.

Ask lots of questions so you can make the most educated decision possible and make sure you feel the company is somewhere that encourages development and holds its employees in high-regard.
