What better way to show potential candidates that you mean business, than by directing them from your advertising through to a tailored, informative microsite?
Microsites are ideal for complementing online and print media campaigns. They provide the space to display more detailed job information, such as list of responsibilities and skills, as well as tailored and in-depth information on what a career with the company has to offer.
And because this level of content is published online, less information needs to be featured in your advertising, which saves you money. Often, microsites are funded from the savings made on press ads by taking a smaller space.
You don't have to be recruiting an army of people to make a microsite worthwhile. You might be just recruiting one role, with a single press ad. If you want to impress your candidates, and save money on your press ad, a microsite is still worth considering. Clients who have used microsites report excellent application rates among site visitors, and candidates are left with excellent perceptions of you as a desirable company to work for, now or in the future.
Microsites also work well to support online advertising campaigns. They can take the place of "profile pages" on jobs boards, which are limiting in that they are only accessed by candidates visiting that one jobs site.
Putting together a microsite can take as few as 5-10 working days to complete, sometimes less. They cost from £2000, dependent on how much content and functionality is needed.
A simple microsite could be just 2 or 3 pages of html content, with information about the roles, the company, and a CV submit button, where candidates click to attach their CV and send it directly to you.
More advanced microsites can include more content, more vacancies, and can include a mini version of the acclaimed JobPositive(TM) database system. This gives additional functionality, including a job search, quick list of all vacancies (up to 15), the option of an online application form, and an optional registration facility. All microsites are hosted online by JobPositive for 4 weeks, but can be extended.
Microsites work well if they use a unique URL - something memorable that reflects the advertising campaign, e.g. the headline.
Design-wise, microsites usually reflect the design used in an advertising campaign, but they can just as easily be designed to match the design of the main company website.
The best thing about microsites is that you can begin with a simple one, and then build on it. Some clients have created their main company recruitment site based on an initial microsite.
